As a writer, I also love to read (obviously). I'm always on the lookout for a good book to cuddle up with on a rainy day with a hot dirty chai in hand. Something that makes me delve into another world. An escape.
I am mostly a fan of YA fiction - which is what I write. When it comes to finding a good book, I like unique, realistic novels that I can connect with. I also like books that deal with real issues and characters that contain flaws. I find it more relatable, since I am a human with flaws of my own.
My top five favorite YA Fiction novels are:
1. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (I've read this, like, three times at least.)
2. The Perfect Chemistry Series by Simone Elkeles
3. Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen
4. Dreamland by Sarah Dessen
5. Leaving Paradise by Simeone Elkeles
I think that in terms of the best voice, "The Fault in Our Stars" definitely wins. Simone Elkeles' "Perfect Chemistry" series is a great concept. Really, any Sarah Dessen novel captures my heart and captivates my attention in so many ways. I think her novels are very character driven, so she always seems to surprise me in her books - no matter how many of them I have read.
I'm not sure if many people have read Elkeles' "Leaving Paradise" and its sequel because I know her "Perfect Chemistry" series was much more popular. But if you haven't, YOU NEED TO. I really enjoyed the variety of characters and how they interacted with each other in this book. A great short and sweet read if you're looking for something new!
These are the books that I have found inspiration in the most! I hope to one day move these authors with my words, like they have touched and moved me with their own.
